Underground Tools Inc.
Underground Tools Inc. manufactures heavy-duty rock trenching chains for all makes and models of trenchers; from pedestrian units up to the largest maxi track trenchers. They specialize in large pitch K-Style Chains and custom base plates for the most severe applications. UTI chain is manufactured with proprietary alloy steel and design features, the latest of which is currently being patented, and will provide longer wear life in the field than anything currently on the market. 866.488.3478,

INROCK’s new, patented XTR-S Extreme Reamer featuring a revolutionary, proprietary, field interchangeable cutter design allows drillers to easily change cutters, both tungsten carbide insert (TCI) and milled tooth (MT) on job site, in minutes, without any welding. XTR-S cutters (TCI & MT) are manufactured by INROCK. XTR-S removes all costs associated with old, welded design split bit reamers, such as freight to a weld repair facility, weld repair time and cost or new body costs with each split bit reamer purchase and the need to actually have two reamers of the same type to avoid costly downtime. 713.690.5600,

Ballantine’s replacement Rock Wheel Segments for Ditch Witch and Vermeer are made to order and come in dig widths of up to a 12-inch cut “V” pattern. Made from the highest quality 4140 abrasion resistant alloy steel, these segments have exceptional wear in even the harshest environments like Asphalt and Concrete. Ballantine requires an old segment to ensure the correct bolt pattern and a three week lead time is needed to create your custom segment. 800.328.2424,

The Doosan DXB100H hydraulic breaker features an energy recovery system that increases strike power for maximum productivity in utility applications. Delivering up to 750 blows per minute, the 2,061-pound DXB100H is designed for use with excavators in the popular 10- to 15-metric-ton weight range, specifically the Doosan DX140LC and DX140LCR. Rated in the 2,000 foot-pound impact energy class, the DXB100H requires a hydraulic flow rate of between 18.5 and 31.7 gallons per minute.

Barbco Cutting Heads deliver a 100 percent cutting pattern, reducing drag and torque to your boring machine, maximizing control of line and grade. The BBC35 Flat Face Rock Head with a drift reducing ring features: replaceable bullet bits; wipers to remove cuttings; a replaceable shank; a changeable shank size; and a heavy duty base plate. 800.448.8934,

The TriHawk HD housing offers a number of patented features designed to enhance the efficiency of directional drilling, including a square drive spline that enables operators to quickly and easily change tooling as downhole conditions change. Another patented feature is a boltless, pinned-lid system that provides exceptional protection for—and easy removal of—the tracking electronics. With its innovative, high-flow design, TriHawk has the power and volume necessary to also run two other types of trenchless systems: mud motors and air hammers. 800.654.6481,

The Kenco Triple Tine Mechanical Grapple features three points of contact to safely lift irregular shaped objects. The unique design allows for a wide range of grip. The Triple Tine is available in three models, with capacities of 3000, 6000, and 12,000 pounds. 800.653.6069,

The 5-cutter Jumbo Lo-Torque Hole Opener product – the LTX24x5 – reduces impact loading on the cutters, which increases the product’s working life. It also reduces the torque cycle while reaming, creating a very smooth running hole opener. The body is bi-directional and can be either pull or push reamed. Ideal for pipeline projects, the Jumbo cutters offer large, sealed bearings for extended runs. It is available in Mill Tooth style, IADC type 5 T.C.I. and IADC type 8 T.C.I. A minimum pilot hole of 26 inches can be made using the LTX24x5, and hole sizes ranges are 36, 38, 40 and 42 inches. 281.288.2560,

The Armor drilling system is now available in three sizes: small, medium and large for compatibility with drills ranging from 12,000 to 100,000 pounds of thrust/pullback. A modular configuration allows for easy bit change to adapt to varying ground conditions during a bore, helping eliminate the need to purchase multiple housings and tools for different applications and processes. The new 4.25-inch OD system is intended for use with the D60x90 through D100x140 Navigator HDD, the Ditch Witch JT100 and equivalently rated drills. A patent-pending advanced bit mounting design utilizes a solid pin for bit retention and for ease in bit interchangeability and maintenance. 888.837.6337,

Melfred Borzall

The contoured design and carbide cutters make the Iron Fist ideal for cobblestone conditions. Front carbide cutters are positioned to allow the operator to “rock” the bit through rock and cobble. Compact carbide buttons are less likely to hang up on cobbles and are strategically placed to protect the edges of the steer face. The Iron Fist features wrench flats for easy removal, a built in check valve and ¼-inch recessed water holes to prevent clogging. 800.833.1252,

Bor-It Mfg.

Heavy-Duty Rock Heads utilize a “V” shape to provide self-centering action which helps maintain line and grade. Featuring easily replaceable carbide tipped “bullet” style teeth, these heavy duty heads are ideal for boring through solid rock of medium hard formations. Head diameters range from 4 inches up to 72 inches and have a 1 1/8- to 5-inch Hex drive. 800.289.6639,

The INCREDIBIT fractures rock in a random elliptical pattern allowing it to be productive in all kinds of soils and formations. Because of the “dancing” effect, the INCREDIBIT bores a larger hole than conventional bits. In most conditions, a 2 ¾-inch bit will cut approximately a 4-inch hole, a 3-inch bit will cut approximately a 5-inch hole, a 3 ½-inch bit will cut approximately a 6-inch hole, and a 4 1/8-inch bit will cut approximately an 8-inch hole. 888.313.7455,

Single Roller Cone Bits deliver enhanced steering, while a carbide-covered steering plate and additional carbide on the face delivers better grinding capabilities for your solid rock jobs. The 3000 Series Single Roller Cone Bit has a thread connection 2-inch IF pin and cutting size is 5 inches. 800.892.9114,

Kennametal’s line of cutting tools for directional drilling and drilling back reamers offer excellent cost savings, long tool life and outstanding impact strength in the most challenging drilling conditions. Buttons and compacts have rock-style heads made of durable carbide and are engineered for the hard daily punishment of drilling rock and concrete. Protect directional drilling back reamers from wear in abrasive conditions with the solid carbide tips and steel bodies on the welded-on teeth extend back reamer tool life. 800.835.3668,
