Equipment Spotlight: Pipe & Joint Fusion Equipment

Pipe and joint fusion equipment by McElroy Mfg., Integrity Fusion Products, GF Piping Systems, Ritmo America and IPEX.

McElroy Mfg.

The DataLogger 5 and Vault work together to ensure quality fusion of polyethylene pipe. The free online Vault application, which also supports DataLoggers 3 and 4, provides unparalleled joint-data analysis and storage. The new DataLogger 5 records key parameters of the pipe fusion process and features GPS stamping, barcode scanning, 5MP camera, and full support for Wi-Fi and cellular networks. 918.836.8611,

Integrity Fusion Products

Integrity Fusion Products now manufactures IntegriFuse Molded Lateral Wyes. These full-size, fully pressure rated wyes offer an ideal alternative to typical fabricated wyes. They are available in 2-, 3-, 4- and 6-inch sizes with 8 inches in production. All are IPS sizes and available in both SDR 11 and SDR 17. 770.632.7530,

GF Piping Systems

GF Piping Systems offers a wide range of hand and mechanical guided fusion machines – also for the field-use. The pipe end, fitting socket and heating tools correspond in such a way that the necessary joining pressure is attained during joining, resulting in a homogeneous joint. As with Socket Fusion Machines, in this form of fusion joining, which requires heating tools, the pipe end is inserted into the socket of the fitting; no additional material is used. The pipe end and fitting socket are heated to fusion temperature using a heating bush and a heating spigot, respectively, and are then pushed together.

Ritmo America

The RAM 824 ALL TERRAIN pipe and fusion machine is simple to use. The heating plate and facer disconnect system is ideal for the positioning / removal of the pipes. The clamps hydraulic system serves as a protection against collisions while positioning the machine inside the trench. And low fuel consumption and soundproofing gear protects the environment, while saving money. Key features include a working range of 8-inch IPS to 24-inch DIPS; four steering wheels drive; a diesel-engine and self-contained with on-board generator; a sliding third clamp for fittings welding; data logging with GPS. 863.679.8655,

Friatec couplings from IPEX Inc. feature a unique, exposed coil design that provides a seal stronger than any other electrofusion system on the market. This is achieved for two reasons: the heat, created by the electrical current passing through the exposed coil of the Friatec coupling, is transferred directly to the PE pipe, and the coil protrudes from the interior surface of the coupling. When the pipe is heated, the coil sinks into it creating a much stronger bond. As a result of this process, every joint will be sealed precisely to specification, automatically, every time, minimizing the risk of human error. Because every joint is as strong as the pipe itself, the Friatec Electrofusion system is ideal for horizontal direct drilling and other trenchless applications. 866.473.9462,
