Charles Edwin Stringer, Jr. of Combine, TX, born Oct. 29, 1947, passed away on May 30.

In Memoriam: John H. Williams

John H. Williams, 94, of Tulsa, OK, died on May 1. Williams was the president of the Pipe Line Contractors Association (PLCA) in 1959, and elected Honorary Member in 1998. Williams was a 1940 graduate of Yale University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served as president and CEO of The Williams Companies (formerly known as Williams Brothers Company) from 1949 to 1971, and chairman and CEO from 1971 to 1979, when he retired. He served on the William’s board of directors until 1993.

China Society of Trenchless Technology holds 17th conference

The 2013 China International Trenchless Technology Conference & Exhibition was held from April 19 to 21 at the Suzhou International Expo Center. There were 975 guests from 25 provinces and autonomous regions in China and with nine countries and regions who attended the conference. The conference was hosted by the China Society of Trenchless Technology (CSTT).

The Turkish Society for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technology (TSITT) participated in the Smart Municipal Work Summit held by Union of Municipalities of Marmara (UMM) on March 28-29 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Open season for pipeline project in New York

The Millennium Pipeline Company has announced a non-binding open season for firm transportation service under its existing rate schedule FT-1 to be made available through the use of currently existing capacity and construction of at least one compressor station and approximately 60 miles of new pipeline that would connect to the Dominion Transmission system near Cortland, NY, and the Tennessee Gas Pipeline System near Syracuse, NY.

Design underway on Fort Worth’s Village Creek Interceptors

Design of 4,000 linear feet (LF) of 12-inch water main and 5,124 LF of large diameter sanitary sewer interceptors are being undertaken by RJN Group Inc. (RJN) for the city of Fort Worth, TX. The interceptors are in four locations in a predominately commercial and industrial area adjacent to a historic neighborhood.
