Sharewell LP is a leading supplier to the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) industry offering a full suite of guidance systems, downhole tools and services to oil and gas operating companies, utility providers and contractors.
Founded in 1984, the company quietly recognized its 25th year in business doing what it has always done: helping its clients complete successful directional drilling installations.
“Our anniversary celebration has been business as usual,” said Steve Cornwall, vice president of horizontal directional drilling services. “With many of us in the field every day, it’s hard to schedule an open house or other special event.”
The Sharewell HDD Tool Box includes mud motors, wireline and magnetic guidance systems, Tru Tracker surface grid magnetic interference verification systems, drill bits and assemblies, centralizers, reaming tools and low torque hole openers. Other special tools are available as needed.
“We offer both wireline guidance systems and pressure-while-drilling systems to measure the annular pressure,” Cornwall said. “This enables our client to monitor the bore hole for potential frac out. Our worldwide experience gives us the confidence to match the right tool for any ground conditions.”
Providing exactly the right tool for a project is essential, and Cornwall believes service has been a key element in the company’s success. Sharewell specialists often are on job sites to operate guidance systems and other equipment as part of the drilling team.
“Consistently delivering reliable, innovative service has earned the trust of customers,” he said. “We’ve always tried to offer honest, realistic opinions and recommendations to help our customers be successful. Our customers appreciate that, and there is a mutual trust between us and longtime customers. As the first HDD service company, our roots in the HDD industry run deep; many people and organizations have been touched and influenced by Sharewell and its employees. We’ve developed relationships that go far beyond customer/supplier relationships and value our position as a respected member of the industry.”
For oil and gas exploration projects that require directional or horizontal services, straight hole motors or measurement-while-drilling (MWD) services, sister companies Sharewell MWD Services and Sharewell Energy Services offer complete packages including the new, state of the art electromagnetic telemetry (EM) technology and the latest generation of GE Tensor MWD equipment.
The safety of employees, clients and the public is paramount in all facets of Sharewell’s operations, Cornwall said.
“The company,” he said, “has developed and implemented formal safety policies and procedures into all facets of its operations that are in compliance with the health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to each state where we operate.”
As are others in the industry, Sharewell is dealing with the current economic recession.
“There always will be business cycles,” said Cornwall. “Our roots in the oil fields certainly prepared us for that. The demand for oil and natural gas will continue to be strong, and we believe pipeline construction is going to pull HDD back.”
