In Memoriam

James Vincent Joyce, 86, died on Feb. 24 in Andover, NY.

After leaving the armed forces in 1948, Joyce and his brother, Charles, founded Joyce Pipeline which would later become Joyce Western Corporation. The company’s business extended from Canada through the United States, and included Central American and Venezuela. The Alaskan pipeline, in which his company played a large part in constructing, was a highlight of his career.

In addition to his wife, Helma, Joyce was predeceased by four siblings, Charles, Donald Joan and Sandra. He is survived by his sister, Mary, and children Kathleen (George) Biondo, Vincent (Deborah) Joyce and Christine (Michael) McCormick, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial with full military honors followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Andover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 726 Andover, NY, 14806, or the Andover Main Street Project, P.O. Box 736, Andover, NY 14806.
