New ‘Short’ Excavator Joins Hitachi Line-Up

The Hitachi ZX60USB-3 is a new ultra-short excavator with a swing boom and backfill blade perfect for jobs along walls, guard rails, narrow roads and tight work sites.

The independent swing boom moves 80 degrees to the left and 60 degrees to the right; the boom offset is 33.5 inches to the right and 28 inches to the left.

The Yanmar 4TNV98 engine is certified to EPA interim Tier-4 emission regulations. The advanced engine technologies include an Exhaust Gas Recirculation system to reduce NOx emissions; an electronic governor that adjusts fuel-injection volume and engine speed; and an isochronous control electronic governor that reduces fuel consumption and excess noise.

The cab is TOPS/ROPS/OPG designed and comes standard with air conditioning and a one-piece airtight floor. Finger-tip control, short-stroke levers reduce operator fatigue. Tinted front and top windows, a one-piece door window, and extra glass on the lower bottom right-hand side provide excellent visibility.

The ZX60USB-3 uses a D-section frame skirt to increase the rigidity of the upper-frame. A box-section stay is used at the blade for greater durability. The one-piece swing post helps reduce jerking of the swing boom. WC tungsten-carbide thermal spraying at the contact surfaces between the arm top and bucket reduces wear and jerking.

The ZX60USB-3 is available with either rubber or steel tracks. A 6-foot 1-inch long arm with an additional 573-pound counterweight is also an option. 800.675.8459, hitachiconstruction.com
