WSA Trenchless Consultants

WSA Trenchless Consultants, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has been acquired by GENIVAR, headquartered in Western Quebec. WSA is a firm with expertise in trenchless technologies used to install, replace, test and stop leaks in water and wastewater systems.

Gulf Coast Trenchless Association

The Gulf Coast Trenchless Association (GCTA) has elected its new board of directors for 2009. Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam has made two recent appointments. Graham Moore, P.E., has been appointed to LAN’s San Marcos office. In this role, Moore will pursue municipal infrastructure projects in Central Texas and oversee the day-to-day operations of the San Marcos office.

Moore has more than 10 years of experience providing design services for the city of Austin and local municipalities in Central Texas. These include designing and evaluating pump and lift stations, water distribution systems and water and wastewater treatment plants. He recently completed the Southwest Pump Station and Ground Storage Reservoir design for the city of Lubbock, TX, which received the Trailblazer Award for excellence from the South Plains Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.

Moore holds bachelors degrees in mechanical engineering and physics from Southern Methodist University. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.

LAN has appointed Daniel B. McCausland as the firm’s director of program management services.

McCausland brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in providing program and project management services globally. These include seven years as a public agent, seven years commercial contracting and more than 10 years in capital program management services. He has earned the reputation as a leading professional in the public arena and has successfully filled the roles of owner, contractor and consultant over a wide range of projects exceeding more than $15 billion in construction value.

McCausland previously served as an associate vice president of PinnacleOne, where he was responsible for oversight, development and supervision of public sector services in Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

McCausland holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in theology from Biola University, CA.

Bobcat Company, Polaris Industries

North Dakota-based Bobcat Company and Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, MN, have announced a long-term strategic alliance that will include co-development of work vehicles, supply of highly differentiated work vehicles and technology sharing, with a planned launch by the second half of 2010.

Scott Wine, Polaris Industries CEO said: “Initially, Polaris will produce and sell highly differentiated work vehicles to Bobcat for sale through the Bobcat dealer network. New Holland

During the fourth quarter of 2008, New Holland Construction and its North American dealer network arranged the first-ever DA$H for CA$H dealer contest for New Holland skid steer and compact track loaders.

Attractive cash prizes awaited the dealerships with the highest volume of combined unit sales by year-end. GeoEngineers, DCM Engineering

GeoEngineers Inc., a Seattle, WA-based earth science and technology company, has purchased DCM Engineering Inc. of Walnut Creek, CA. DCM Engineering is a consulting firm specializing in trenchless design and geotechnical engineering services for the water and public utilities markets.

The Walnut Creek team will use the name “DCM/GeoEngineers” and become GeoEngineers’ fifteenth office nationwide and second in California. Dave Mathy, P.E., DCM’s founder, will join GeoEngineers as managing principal of the Walnut Creek office.

DCM/GeoEngineers provides specialized design experience in microtunneling, earth pressure balance tunneling, pipe bursting, pipe reaming, pipe lining and various forms of pipe jacking. Over the past 15 years, the company has completed more than 100,000 feet of trenchless projects, which have included pipelines from 12-103 inches in diameter installed by microtunneling, EPBM tunneling, pilot-tube guided boring, pipe bursting and pipe reaming.

In addition to their trenchless experience, DCM brings 24 years of geotechnical and geologic experience in the Bay Area, with a strong position in the water and wastewater infrastructure markets.

GeoEngineers has long been known for their horizontal directional drilling (HDD) design and construction oversight for oil, gas and other pipelines. Godwin Pumps

Godwin Pumps, a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of the Dri-Prime automatic self-priming pump, announces the appointments of new employees at its locations throughout the U.S.

William Gower joins Godwin Pumps as a mechanic at the Chesapeake, VA, branch. Gower joins Godwin with 10 years of experience in fleet vehicle and equipment mechanics, including three years as owner and operator of BG Auto Care Inc.

Barbara Hochman joins Godwin’s Bridgeport office as a sales assistant to the local sales team, with over 13 years experience in sales, office administration and consumer market research. Most recently, Hochman coordinated advertising and exhibits. She holds an Associate’s degree in Business from Nassau Community College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Hofstra University.

Michael Ivory joins the Pittsburgh, PA, branch of Godwin Pumps as an outside sales engineer. Most recently, Ivory served as an outside salesperson, branch manager and business development manager for an equipment rental company. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the Pennsylvania State University.

Thomas Malone joins Godwin Pumps’ Norwich, CT, branch as an inside sales engineer. Malone earned a project management certification from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has served as an engineering technician and has worked in sales, business development and operations management for a variety of corporations.

Mark Michael is the newest addition to the inside sales staff in Godwin Pumps’ Bridgeport location. Effective since Feb. 1, CONTECH Construction Products Inc. requires a deposit on all custom products. The deposit is one third down at the time of order and two thirds due 30 days from the date of invoice.

Liebherr Construction Equipment

Liebherr Construction Equipment welcomes two new hires to its team. Timothy Hyland joins the sales team where he will assume the responsibility of district manager.

Hyland has held several key positions in the construction industry, including his most recent position as a regional sales manager for Dynapac. Hyland will develop sales objectives, provide training on Liebherr products, coordinate marketing strategies and provide general dealer support. Hyland will be based at the company headquarters in Newport News, VA.

Gerald “Jerry” Halsey has joined Liebherr in the role of factory service representative. Halsey will assist dealers, in-house and field personnel with technical issues and special projects.

IronPlanet

IronPlanet, a world leader in online auction’s for used construction and agricultural equipment, continued to gain significant marketplace momentum in 2008, with gross auction sales of $337 million, an increase of 43 percent over 2007. Fourth-quarter gross auction sales totaled $96 million, up 26 percent over the third quarter and up 9 percent over the same period last year.

In 2008, IronPlanet averaged more than 15,000 potential bidders per auction. The company’s continued global marketing emphasis and reach resulted in 27 percent of equipment sold to buyers outside of the United States in 2008.

Registrations to IronPlanet’s online auction marketplace continued its record pace with an increase of more than 8,200 new global registrations a month, up 85 percent over 2007. IronPlanet also conducted a record 59 auctions in 2008 versus 31 auctions in 2007. www.ironplanet.com
