RLS hires new sales manager
Mitchell Lipford has joined RLS Inc. as a regional sales manager. Lipford will lead the sales efforts for RLS products in the Southeastern U.S. through the region’s Certified Applicator Network. In addition, he will continue to develop the RLS Certified Applicator Network and collaborate with engineers to ensure that RLS products are specified for targeted municipal projects.
Prior to joining RLS, Lipford held a sales position with Coastal Construction Products of Naples, FL, where he represented Coastal’s wastewater/industrial product lines.
Lipford earned his AAS in Construction Management from Santa Fe Community College, and has successfully completed numerous factory-certified training programs for coating products. He is a Certified Building Contractor in Florida, and is a past board member and currently serves as president of the International Concrete Repair Institute.
Insituform wins contracts
Insituform Technologies Inc. has been awarded a $17.9 million contract for the Sacramento Area Sewer District. Work on the project, which is scheduled to begin in June 2009, is expected to be completed in September 2010. Insituform plans to install nearly 45,000 feet of medium- and large-diameter Insituform CIPP under this contract award.
Insituform also has been awarded an additional $5.1 million contract for a sewer pipe rehabilitation project for Nevada’s Clark County Water Reclamation District. Insituform will begin work on this project in June 2009 and will rehabilitate approximately 23,000 feet of 15- to 48-inch diameter sewer pipes. This project is in addition to the company’s recent contract award of $13 million from Clark County for the rehabilitation of 14,000 feet of large-diameter sewer pipes.
Insituform, a pre-qualified contractor with the Clark County Water Reclamation District, will use its Insituform cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) technology for this project. The Insituform CIPP process is a jointless pipe-within-a-pipe with the capability to rehabilitate pipes ranging in diameter from 6 to 96 inches.
In other news, Kenneth L. Young was named vice president and treasurer of Insituform. Young comes to Insituform with over 30 years of experience in treasury and financial management. He most recently served as the chief financial officer, secretary and treasurer for Huttig Building Products, a public company based in St. Louis, MO, where he was responsible for treasury activities, internal financial operations, accounting, reporting and SEC compliance. Prior to that, he served as corporate treasurer for MEMC Electronic Materials. Young attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he earned a BS degree in finance and banking.
New manufacturer reps at Press-Seal Gasket
Jim George and Brandon George, both of JLG & Associates, have joined Press-Seal Gasket as manufacturer representatives for the company’s complete range of sealing products, precast accessories and machinery. Jim and Brandon bring broad experience in the concrete pipe and precast industry, as well as new energy and enthusiasm to the sales efforts. Together, they provide representation to the Southeast/South Central U.S., including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas.
CTZoom Technologies obtains MACP certification from NASSCO
CTZoom Technologies Inc. has become the first Canadian vendor to provide manhole system assessment software that complies with the requirements of the Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP), administered by the National Association of Sewer Services Companies (NASSCO). CTSpec Manhole, which is integrated into CTZoom’s PACP-certified CTSpec Sewer program, gives municipal authorities access to a powerful tool for obtaining consistent sewer system assessment data, in compliance with the most widely used and respected set of standards in North America.
Canadian municipalities that deal with inspection firms using MACP-certified tools can keep a close eye on their sewer manholes in a time- and cost-effective manner. Equipped with the same analysis criteria, codes and classifications for asset breakdowns and defects as those used in MACP-certified systems throughout North America, CTSpec Manhole can enable municipalities across the continent to easily benchmark the performance of their systems and make enlightened decisions about the management of their rehabilitation and preventive maintenance operations.
While it was working toward MACP certification in the English-speaking markets in Canada and the United States, CTZoom also sat on the ad hoc committee formed by the Centre for Expertise and Research on Infrastructures in Urban Areas (CERIU) to earn the right to grant MACP certification in French on a Quebec-wide basis.
This marks the second software certification to be awarded to CTZoom. In September 2008, it became the first software vendor in Canada to be PACP-certified.
Price increase for CoREZYN and Silmar products
The Interplastic Corporation’s Thermoset Resins Division is raising the price of CoREZYN and Silmar brand products $0.05 per pound for shipments on or after July 4, 2009. This increase includes all vinyl esters, polyesters, specialty resins, gel coats, colorants and putties.
“The recent sharp increase in crude oil and derivative products has put increased pressure on the price of all polyester raw materials. We can no longer absorb these increased costs and must pass a portion on to our customers,” explains National Sales Manager Steve Wetzel.
