UCT Returns To Houston
After three years on the road, the annual Underground Construction Technology International Conference & Exposition (UCT) returns to Houston from Jan. 25 -27 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
UCT is the underground construction industry’s premier trade event, focusing exclusively on the underground construction and rehabilitation markets. It is the only annual industry event that brings together contractors, utility providers, consulting engineers, manufacturers and service providers in a true business and educational environment.
As they have in the past, UCT’s regular education program is scheduled during the three exhibit days with special education programs scheduled both before and immediately after the exhibition.
“With the growing number of industry organizations scheduling meetings and programs in conjunction with UCT, the three ‘show’ days can no longer accommodate the schedule,” said Karen Francis, UCT convention manager. “For example, CUIRE (the Center for Underground Infrastructure Research and Education) is offering two full days of training beginning on Sunday, Jan. 23; NASSCO (the National Association of Sewer Service Companies) has scheduled a wide range of programs from Jan. 24-28. On Jan. 27, Staking University will conduct a one-day Locator Certification Seminar.”
More than 500 exhibits will occupy two exhibit halls representing the most significant and cutting edge products and services related to underground construction and rehabilitation.
More than 100 educational sessions cover timely topics which qualify for CEUs (continuing education units) and PDHs (professional development hours) offered in conjunction with the University of Texas, Arlington. Tracks include tutorials about sewer and water rehabilitation technologies, advances in CIPP technologies, pipebursting, storm water, sewer construction and rehabilitation, WaterWorks Conference, trenchless technical symposium, alternative energy construction and a new HDD Rigonomics program about the business of horizontal directional drilling.
There will be an expanded Damage Protection & Safety Program, and the always-popular RehabZone will occupy an 80-by-100-foot section of the exhibit floor. Attendees can visit informational-only exhibits and demonstrations of rehabilitation technologies, products and services.
