Swerdfeger wins State House election

Pueblo West executive and Distribution Contractors Association Past President Keith R. Swerdfeger won the election for his second run at the Colorado State House of Representatives District 47 seat being vacated by Democrat Liane “Buffie” McFadyen.

Swerdfeger, a Republican, narrowly lost to McFadyen six years ago, but was leading first-time Democratic candidate Carole Partin late Tuesday, Nov. 2.

With 100 percent of Pueblo County and 97 percent of Fremont County counted, Swerdfeger earned 16,337 votes compared with Partin’s 9,596. Partin was a longtime teacher who was leader of the Pueblo Education Association for eight years until retiring in June.
