New COO named at Inland Pipe Rehabilitation
Harvey Williams has been named chief operating officer of Inland Pipe Rehabilitation (IPR), a leading provider of underground rehabilitation solutions with offices throughout the U.S. In his new role, Williams will be responsible for operations management and overseeing day-to-day activities of the corporation and its 500 plus employees nationwide.
Prior to joining IPR, Williams served over 16 years at General Electric Company. While there, he held multiple leadership roles, including general manager of Renewable Energy Projects. He is also a U.S Marine combat veteran and volunteered for return to Active Duty in the Marine Corps to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2004, he served as Operations Officer in the 5th Civil Affairs Group and was responsible for directing Civil-Military Operations across the Al-Anbar Province, including the management of $400 million major projects to restore the electrical, water and sewer systems throughout Iraq.
Williams received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mount Saint Mary’s College, and his Masters of Science degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
RS Technik hires technical director
RS Technik, a European company represented in the Americas by RS Lining Systems, LLC, announces the appointment of Steve Wierzchowski, formerly with Raven Lining Systems, a division of Cohesant Inc.
In addition to onsite training and technical support, this leader in cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology offers the RS CityLiner and DOW Formulated epoxy resins.
Wierzchowski’s 17 years of service with Raven, most recently as technical director, prepare him to take the helm on September 1 as the technical interface between the company’s European technology and the unique applications and specifications in North, South and Central America. 919.481.1977, rstechnik.com
Corrpro receives contract for cathodic protection
Corrpro Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Insituform Technologies, has received work orders with a combined value of $5.3 million from TransCanada Corp. as part of its three-year term contract for cathodic protection.
Corrpro will supply and install cathodic protection systems for existing TransCanada pipelines across Canada. The majority of the materials will be manufactured in Corrpro’s production facility located in Edmonton, Alberta. It is expected that local crews from the nine Corrpro offices across Canada will be utilized for geographic efficiency.
Corrpro expects to complete this portion of the work by November 2010.
RIDGIDConnect Sweepstakes winner announced
RIDGID announces the winner of its RIDGIDConnect Sweepstakes promotion. A single grand-prize winner, Pat Grogan, a Topeka, KS, resident, and owner of Pat the Plumber, was randomly chosen to receive a prize package valued at more than $25,000.
The contest, which ran from February 1 through June 30, 2010, was created to promote RIDGIDConnect, a subscription-based, online business tool designed for service professionals and contractors who create or use digital information. It was open to professional contractors throughout North America. Participants entered the contest online or via mail.
“This RIDGID prize package will change the way I do business,” commented Grogan. The subscription to RIDGIDConnect, combined with all the digital equipment will allow me to be completely digital and exchange information easier and faster. I am particularly excited to use the laptop and the laptop interface combined with the inspection camera system.”
“This RIDGID prize package is allowing me to jump right into the digital world—and it will create a lot of additional opportunities for my company!” added Grogan. “Instead of trying to keep track of DVDs, VHS tapes, digital pictures and videos about sewer inspections and commercial projects, being digital will allow us to get organized on RIDGIDConnect and put a portal on our website that our customers can access at any time.”
Insituform awarded contracts, opens Singapore office
Insituform Technologies Inc. has been awarded a three-year term contract by the city of Austin, TX. The contract, valued at up to $11.7 million, includes using cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) to rehabilitate sewer pipelines in residential, commercial and environmentally sensitive areas within the city.
Insituform has received its first work order valued at $2.3 million under this contract. In compliance with the city’s policy, Insituform’s management team will utilize minority-owned and women-owned businesses throughout the project.
This term contract plays a significant and strategic role in restoring the structural integrity of the city’s collection system while reducing inflow and infiltration and eliminating sanitary sewer overflows.
Insituform also has begun work on a $17 million project for the Drainage Services Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Insituform was recently awarded two term contract renewals, which provide for the rehabilitation of wastewater pipelines located throughout the highly populated Central District and Mainland North District for three and five years, respectively.
It is expected that Insituform will install either Insituform CIPP or iPlus Composite on 4-inch to 84-inch diameter circular and box shape pipelines constructed of clay, concrete or brick. Some of these pipelines date back to the colonial years of Hong Kong. iPlus Composite, Insituform’s premium fiber-reinforced CIPP solution, provides both added strength and stability and is ideal for medium- to large-diameter pipelines.
In other company news, Insituform is opening an Insituform – Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore. In June, Singapore’s Economic Development Board presented Insituform with the Regional Headquarters Award.
Receiving this Regional Headquarters Award signifies Insituform’s confidence in Singapore as the hub for the Asia Pacific region – a vital part of Insituform’s global strategy and plan for growth. Daniel Cowan, Insituform vice president – Asia Pacific, said, “The opening of our Asia headquarters in Singapore will allow Insituform to continue to expand its reach in all Asian markets and to bring advances in technologies to meet the growing demand. Our recent acquisition of Insitu Envirotech (S.E. Asia) Pte Ltd. and large contract awards in Singapore further expanded Insituform’s trenchless rehabilitation business in Southeast Asia.”
Cowan continued, “The trenchless rehabilitation market in Singapore is experiencing significant growth as a result of a recently-initiated, four-year $295 million rehabilitation program announced by the Public Utility Board (PUB), Singapore’s national water agency. Insituform’s proprietary trenchless products, including iPlus Infusion for sewer pipelines and the InsituMain System for water pipelines, are well suited for this market and should allow Insituform to significantly expand Insituform’s Southeast Asia operations. Singapore is becoming the technology hub for innovation in the water and wastewater sector.”
With over 150 cities of one million plus inhabitants, Asia offers a rich network of pipeline infrastructure to service, and Singapore will now serve as the premier gateway to tap into the region’s robust opportunities.
