Root Control

Root control products from Duke’s Root Control, RootX and Vaporooter.

Duke’s Root Control
Duke’s Root Control is a full-service root control company dedicated to keeping sewer systems free of tree root growth. Through professional application of Duke’s proprietary herbicide, Razorooter II, over 2,000 U.S. municipalities have benefited from extended pipe life, reduced SSO occurrences, and maximized asset value. Duke’s has successfully treated over 140 million feet of sewer line and continues to deliver results to municipalities through: Asset Management and CMOM Solutions. Duke’s can customize a root-control program that integrates CMOM into each municipality’s O&M plan. Duke’s only applies EPA-registered products that do not negatively impact downstream treatment facilities and are shown to be non-cancer-causing. If a root-related stoppage occurs within 2-3 years after treatment, Duke’s re-treats the line. 800.447.6687, www.dukes.com

RootX
Use your own municipal maintenance crews and equipment with RootX to kill pipeline roots – they can treat a 400-foot mainline in 30 minutes or less. The patented RootX formula foams on contact with water to reach the top of the pipe where 90 percent of roots are. Dead roots decay over time, restoring pipes to their full capacity. RootX kills roots using the aquatic herbicide Dichlobenil. It’s non-caustic, non-fumigating and non-systemic, and it contains no diquat dibromide, copper sulfate or metam sodium. RootX will not harm pipes, wastewater treatment operations or above-ground vegetation. RootX is registered for use in all 50 states as well as Canada, and it’s classified as a General Use product by the EPA. 800.844.4974, www.rootx.com

Vaporooter
Vaporooter foam is a unique combination of herbicides that is placed in sewer lines to kill roots on contact and inhibit future root growth. Only roots within the pipe and a very short distance outside the pipe are affected; trees and shrubs immediately above ground are not harmed. Vaporooter is composed of an herbicide that penetrates root cell walls and then bursts them; causing the root to die and decay. A root growth inhibitor attaches to surface-active organic material to inhibit further root cell division and growth for up to 3 years. A surfactant blend strips away grease and slime from the roots permitting deep penetration into the root mass. A foaming agent provides a durable, fine-textured “vehicle” to carry Vaporooter into maximum contact with roots and pipe surfaces through professional application. 800.841.1444, vaporooter.com
