Pipeline Expo Kicks Off in Tulsa

To further promote the regional initiatives of Oklahoma-area businesses, the Tulsa Pipeline Expo will be hosting its third forum at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown and the QuikTrip Center at Expo Square in Tulsa, OK, from Aug. 29-31.

The third annual TPE highlights Oklahoma businesses and provides opportunities to network with pipeline, utility, construction, and water and sewer companies throughout North America. TPE consists of a trade show, educational sessions, roundtable discussion, golf tournament and a variety of networking functions.

“Our goal is to raise awareness of our state’s rich heritage in the energy industry and the growing infrastructure services, and to showcase products and services of the many Oklahoma businesses that keep our state strong,” explains Bill Solomon, TPE chairperson.

In addition to Solomon, event coordinators of the non-profit Expo include TPE President Shawn Lowman and TPE Vice President Terry Flynn. All are local businessmen committed to educating the marketplace and promoting Oklahoma-area businesses.

“Oklahoma has the manufacturing, production, processing, services and distribution resources to meet the needs of the energy and infrastructure markets,” says Solomon. “We have the capacity to market, transport, and access businesses and ports across the United States within days. The Expo provides the opportunity to meet many of these companies in one place.”

The event kicks off on Monday, Aug. 29, with a four-man scramble golf tournament at Cedar Ridge Country Club followed by a Networking Night at ONEOK Field with dinner, drinks, live music and a spectacular fireworks finale. Several stars from Sooner Nation will be joining guests for a variety of activities and games and the First Annual Expo Challenge.

Education
Building on the success of the 2010 Expo, event coordinators anticipate over 100 exhibitors and more than 700 attendees to attend this year. “In order to accommodate the welcomed growth, we have expanded the demo space and added a morning schedule of educational sessions,” says Lowman.

New this year, TPE will be offering educational sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the QuickTrip Center. Robert Carpenter, editor of Underground Construction will lead off the program with an “Energy Outlook” presentation. He will be joined by Dennis Cousino, vice president of Zero Stage Inc., who will present “Emerging Technologies, Gas Turbine Emission Enhancement Systems” followed by Tom Beddow, coordinator of Oil Patch Chaplains, presenting on “Disaster Response in the Field.” Rounding out the sessions will be a presentation on “Integrity Management.”

Also during the day, attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with exhibitors at a trade show, also held in the QuikTrip Center at Expo Square. The QT center was previously known as the Tulsa Expo Center that was home to Tulsa’s International Petroleum Exposition.

After a busy day of learning, seeing new technologies and visiting with exhibitors, attendees will be treated to a night of elegant dining and inspirational entertainment at the dinner and silent auction at the Hyatt Regency. All proceeds from the silent auction go to the Eagle Gift Foundation, which provides assistance to charitable organizations that promote educational programs, protect vulnerable children and lend a helping hand to those who have experienced adversity. Last year’s auction raised $25,000 to serve the needs of northeast Oklahoma.

The evening will conclude with a Casino Night hosted by TPE with dealers, gaming tables and “play” betting chips for attendees to enjoy and be eligible for various door prizes.

Rounding out the Tulsa Pipeline Expo during breakfast on Wednesday, Aug. 31, attendees will hear from featured keynote speaker, Jeff Magee. Called one of the leading “Leadership & Marketing strategists” today, Magee started his first business at age 15 and sold it before going to college. In 1987, he went to work as a sales associate for Target Marketing, and was promoted to vice president of sales and chief operating officer within two years. Magee served as a three-term president of the Oklahoma Speakers Association, and was twice awarded their “Professional Speaker Member of the Year.”

The Expo will conclude with an Energy Roundtable where attendees will hear from Oklahoma energy industry experts who will provide a brief forecast unique to their vantage before opening the roundtable discussion aimed at educating contractors on successful contract negotiations with energy companies.
