PolyPipe Receives ASME Certification

PolyPipe Inc. recently became the first and only polyethylene pipe manufacturer in the United States to receive the Quality System Certification (QSC) issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Because of PolyPipe’s ongoing commitment to its quality assurance program, ASME’s Subcommittee on Nuclear Accreditation issued this QSC, which allows PolyPipe to offer polyethylene pipe products for use in essential service water systems in nuclear power plant applications.

This certification by the ASME signifies that PolyPipe has met their requirements to supply nuclear quality materials, and provides nuclear power plants the confidence to take advantage of the benefits of PolyPipe HDPE pipe for their essential service water systems. Until now, industry safety standards required these systems to be constructed only with steel or steel alloy pipe. They were expensive to install and maintain not just because of the raw material costs, but because of the cathodic protection systems required by steel pipe. 800.433.5632, polypipeinc.com
