Rehab Focus: Robotic Cutters

Robotic cutters from CUES, Pipeline Renewal Technologies, Aries Industries, AMerik Engineering, Flow-Liner Systems and LMK Technologies.

CUES
The CUES small and large Kangaroo cutters are specifically designed to reinstate wastewater service laterals, remove protruding taps and brush finish existing cuts. The cutters function in a range of 6-inch through 30-inch pipe, are equally effective in CIPP or fold and form liners, and can be installed on any CCTV manufacturer’s truck-mounted system. CUES also developed a new .9-hp air motor for the small Kangaroo cutter line to provide more power, increased productivity, and a smoother cut when operating in 8-inch to 12-inch relined pipe. Kits are available to retrofit existing cutters and service kits can be purchased for regular maintenance intervals on existing motors. Contact CUES for a discussion and demonstration. 800.327.7791, cuesinc.com

Pipeline Renewal Technologies

The new Micro Premium robotic lateral cutter from Pipeline Renewal Technologies delivers 30 percent more cutting power than the Micro Pro, plus a touch-screen interface. Using remote-inflated air bladders, the arm positions itself remotely by creeping and climbing; clamps itself for precise cutting in vertical or horizontal orientation; and feeds the cutting head a full four inches. Agile articulation (400-degree rotation and 90-degree swivel) facilitates precision cutting, as well as maneuvering through 90-degree bends in 4-inch lines. 866.936.8476, pipelinert.com

Aries Industries

Aries’ Lateral Reinstatement Cutter Raptor Model CT2200 operates in 6- to 21-inch diameter lines and is designed to open and reinstate waste water service laterals or water pipe after relining. It can also grind off protruding laterals and pipe offsets prior to relining. Manufactured from stainless steel and bronze components for durability and long life, the CT2200 is designed to work in all types of pipelines for removing concrete, tree roots, rubber rings, metal, and all kinds of deposits. It can be operated from control room of a TV/Cutter truck and the cutter runs off 110V AC and requires 125 psi at 30 cfm of air pressure. Double sealed and pressurized with nitrogen keeps moisture out of the cutter body. A .7-hp and a 1.0-hp motor are available with various collets and cutting bits. 800.234.7205, ariesindustries.com

AMerik Engineering
 width=
The AM mini-cutter is developed for 6- and 8-inch relined pipes. It performs dual functions. It reopens laterals in relined pipes and removes protruding elements prior to relining. Key features are: 800 feet reach from point of entry; all stainless steel construction; three simultaneous movements (420 degree rotation, 6 inch forward/backward, 4 inch up/down); and 1-hp pneumatic cutting motor. New customers are trained in the field by an experienced technician. 770.924.2899, amerikengineering.com

Flow-Liner Systems
 width=
Flow-Liner Systems offers a complete cutting system for pipes from 2- to 10-inch diameters. Flow-Liner Standard Robotic Cutter cuts pipe in diameters of 3-10 inches. It includes 98 feet of supply hose. Cutter access in suggested pipe sizes may vary due to the type and condition of pipe and number of fittings as well as the liner thickness. It is recommended to test the cutter in the pipe prior to lining. 800.348.0020, flow-liner.com

LMK Technologies
 width=
Schwalm Robotic Systems are distributed by LMK Technologies. The robotic cutting and grinding systems boast a self-propelled cutter and a powerful grinding/cutting tool. These systems are ideal for fast CIPP service reinstatement. They have a chisel for removal of concrete in pipelines and are able to insert/removes mechanical plugs up into lateral pipes. With 360 degree cutting function, the Schwalm Robotic Systems cut through CIPP lifts or turn-backs, reach far up into lateral to remove resin slugs and only require one manhole access. Features include on-board tilt camera; self-cleaning lens; high resolution CCD camera; water-powered camera cleaning system; and LED lighting. 815.433.1275, lmktechnologies.com
