Hanson Pressure Pipe Takes Education On The Road

Hanson Pressure Pipe has taken its education outreach on the road, with a demonstration trailer designed to provide public works managers, engineers and contractors with a closer look at C-303 bar-wrapped concrete cylinder pipe.

Accompanying Hanson representatives at conferences and one-on-one meetings, the demonstration trailer is a key tool in teaching decision-makers about the benefits bar-wrapped pipe brings when used within water supply systems.

Bar-wrapped pipe, produced to American Water Works Association standard AWWA-C-303, is available from Hanson Pressure Pipe in diameters ranging from 10 thru 64 inches and combines the physical strength of steel with the structural and protective properties of high-strength cement mortar. Used across the west and southwest for decades, it is now becoming an alternative in many other parts of the country.

“Bar-wrapped pipe is a proven, long-lasting material with thousands of miles in the ground across North America. However, many young engineers and project managers are unfamiliar with its attributes and applications,” said Ken Primavera, senior vice president of sales and engineering. “Hanson’s new trailer provides hands-on education that will help municipalities with the specification process as well as the installation and long-term management of their pipelines.”

The trailer includes segments of bar-wrapped pipe, including cross-sections, and various joint configurations so that visitors can better understand the pipe’s design and fabrication methods in addition to the many component and joint options available. The sample spools also showcase the pipe’s ease of tapping and repair.
