Rehab Focus: Trenchless Pipe Replacement

Trenchless pipe replacement by Tenbusch, TT Technologies, HammerHead Trenchless Equipment and Nowak Pipe Reaming.

Tenbusch
The Tenbusch Insertion Method (TIM) for trenchless pipe replacement allows local contractors to replace ailing underground infrastructure for both municipal and industrial applications. This unique pipe bursting method jacks (pushes) new pipe in place of the existing deteriorated pipe. Unlike other trenchless methods, the TIM system utilizes the column strength of segmented jacking pipe for the newly installed line. The stringent structural requirements of the TIM System ensure a long lived, structurally superior, end product. 972.221.2304, tenbusch.com

TT Technologies
Burst and replace water, sewer, gas and other pipes with the Grundoburst static pipe bursting system from TT Technologies. The Grundoburst can pull in a variety of replacement pipe including PVC, DIP, ABS, cast iron, fusion welded HDPE and VCP jacking pipe. Pulled by a hydraulic bursting unit, the cutter head’s special cutting wheels split the host pipe. Six models are available for bursting 2-inch through 54-inch pipes and larger. 800.533.2078, tttechnologies.com

HammerHead Trenchless Equipment
The HammerHead HB3038 static bursting unit is design specifically for the replacement of gas and water mains ranging from 2 to 6 inches. The compact footprint offers minimal pit excavation and set up is easy with only two hydraulic hoses and quick-connect fittings. With 30 tons of pulling force, the HB3038 will fracture most commonly used pipe material. One lever is used to push out and pullback rods for simple one man operation. A typical 400-foot job takes as little as two hours to complete including payout and pullback. The HB3038 uses rods featuring an API style joint. This proven design handles thrust loads encountered when pushing around sweeping bends, encrusted and collapsed pipes compared to loose joint rod designs, which can buckle in encrusted or collapsed pipes. Specially designed ductile slitters are available for use when bursting 3- , 4- and 6-inch ductile iron or steel pipes. 800.331.6653, hammerheadtrenchlesss.com

Nowak Pipe Reaming
The InneReam system places no undue stress on nearby fragile structures or paving during the installation process, consequently it also reduces stress on the installer. The system provides for the removal of existing VCP, PVC, AC, reinforced (Class II and III) or non-reinforced concrete pipe, and the simultaneous replacement with an HDPE, PVC or restrained joint ductile iron pipe of equal or larger diameter, double diameter replacement being the practical maximum upsize. Removal of the in-place pipe is accomplished by back reaming using a directional drilling machine with a cutter head that reduces the existing pipe to small pieces, which are carried along with other excess particles by the drilling fluid to an extraction point. 316.794.8898, pipereaming.com
